We have not officially hit winter yet, though the weather thinks we have. With Christmas approaching, we thought it was the most perfect time to talk about the hottest winter makeup trends of 2024!

Winter makeup is known for being heavy compared to summer makeup. However, not everyone seems to be into the heavy base and heavy eyes combo. It seems we are taking a slight step back from the heavier makeup looks this winter. We are keeping it really light and letting the skin breathe a little. The focus for the colder months seems to be on our eyes and lips!

Light Base

Obviously the base of a good makeup look is important, but we seem to have really taken a step back from heavy concealer and dark contours. This winter mainly focuses on light makeup with a skincare perk. Luckily there are many brands that design their products to be good for the skin such as Typology Paris, Saie and Kosas.

Red Lips

Whether you enjoy a smudged lipstick look or are into the really sharp lines, this trend will do you justice! We have fallen in love completely with the traditional, yet stunning red lip. The beauty of this timeless look is that it is completely up to you how dark or light you go! These brands have amazing red lipsticks: Dior Rouge Dior Forever Transfer-Proof Lipstick, Fenty Icon Velvet Liquid Lipstick and Mac Macximal Satin Lipstick.

Smokey Eyes

Smokey eyes, that’s what it really is about this winter! With many adaptations over the years, we seem to have embraced the cooler eyeshadow tones this season, with a really dark waterline to accompany the look. We will definitely be keeping our eye on this makeup look for Christmas dinner makeup inspiration. We love the following products: Smoky Eye Brick by Victoria Beckham Beauty, Anastasia Beverly Hills Waterproof Eyeliner and Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara.

Funky Mascara

Brands such as Maybelline have been really stepping up their mascara game by experimenting with different colors and textures. Ever heard of glitter mascara? We are honestly such fans. Experiment with  funky textures and colors this winter with the different colors of the Maybelline New York Lash Sky High Mascara. We also really love the colors of the Chanel Noir Allure Mascara.

Blush

Though it mostly depends on what the makeup look requires, we seem to have taken a step back from really heavy blush. Opting for a lighter finish, or no blush at all. It really depends on your mood and what makeup vibe you are going for. Some really cute blushes with a light finish are: Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, and the Rare Beauty Stay Vulnerable Melting Blush.
